Before you can tame beasts like the Badger, you have to progress a bit in the story and get bait in your inventory.

You also need to get the "Tame Cunning Beasts" Skill in the Tensay Skill tree.

This way you can attract nearby beasts like the Badger and tame them.

Badgers are displayed on the world map and can be found in DAY TIME. If you spot one with your hunter vision, stay back and throw bait nearby to attract them.
